Bulk Attributes for WooCommerce 3.1.1 is out: a safer, more reliable plugin

Version 3.1.1 is out

Hello friends,

A few weeks ago, we told you that we were back and that our first priority would be the safety of your shops. Today, we keep that promise: Bulk Attributes for WooCommerce® 3.1.1 is out, and it is available right now for everyone who bought the plugin.

This is an important update. It contains critical security fixes, so we strongly recommend installing it on every site that runs a previous version.

What changes for you

We went through the whole plugin, line by line, and here is what you will notice in your daily work:

  • Safer. The plugin has been hardened against several security issues. Only people allowed to manage your shop can use it.
  • Assigning several terms works as expected. When you tick several terms to assign them to your products, each of them is now assigned, not just one.
  • Your product attributes stay clean. Assigning terms no longer damages the attributes already set on your products.
  • Deleting terms is clean too. Deleted terms no longer leave orphan data behind in your database, and the delete screen no longer creates unwanted links.
  • Your Shop Managers can use it. Until now, only administrators could open the plugin. Users with the Shop Manager role can now use it too, so you don’t have to share an admin account anymore.
  • A clearer name. The plugin is now called “Bulk Attributes for WooCommerce”. Same plugin, same features, just a name that better respects the WooCommerce brand.

A few technical words

For those who like to know what is under the hood, without going too deep:

  • Tested with WordPress up to 7.1 and WooCommerce up to 11.1; it requires at least WordPress 6.0, WooCommerce 7.0 and PHP 7.4.
  • The plugin now uses the jQuery library bundled with WordPress instead of its own old copy, and its table library has been updated.
  • Every action checks both your permissions and the request itself before touching your data.

How to update

  1. Log in to your account with the e-mail address you used for your purchase. No password, or you forgot it? Just use Lost password.
  2. Go to Downloads and download version 3.1.1.
  3. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, and install the zip file.
  4. Version 3.0 is deactivated automatically when 3.1.1 is activated: you can then delete it. On some Windows hosting, if the plugin appears inactive, simply activate it again from the Plugins screen.

The update is free for every buyer, whatever version you have. Please note that this update prevents new problems but does not repair data that may have been damaged by older versions.

All the details are in the changelog, and our security page explains how to report a vulnerability.

And now?

With this solid and safe base, we can now start working on the bigger things we told you about: a faster engine, a new interface, and much more. We will tell you about it here, step by step.

That’s all for today… Thank you for your trust and your patience. And if anything goes wrong with the update, the support page is open!
